Do not hire them! Meybohm's realtor malpractice and negligence lead us to a fraudulent land deal with no support to clean up their mess! We live in Florida and we were excited to build our new home and life in Aiken with the help of a realtor. What we got involved in has been a nightmare. We found out after the land was purchased that an inaccurately/ unrecorded large road runs through the property we purchased all down the right side. Our builder surveyed the land and said this road was causing major disruption to the rest of the property. This was not on the seller's paperwork during due diligence- they gave us fraudulent paperwork even after 2 months of patience. Our agent went out to check the property in our stead since we live out of state. He did not catch what took the builder 20 seconds to notice- a huge road visible from the main road the homesite is on. Our agent carelessly did not investigate the road running through the entire length of the property or the deed or title. Even worse, the agent we hired had a fiduciary duty which required they get the best price for us. He didn't. The price of the property was 10k only a few months before we bought it at 40k and he never made us aware of that matter or assisted us in price checks for it. What are we paying you for? When we called upset after finding all this out, the vice president of Meybohm said he could attempt to sell the land but we would lose money which is proof the land was far overpaid and the agent did not perform their due diligence. The attorney who did the title search? They didn't catch any of this either! IMPORTANT- Make sure if you buy or sell, the attorney you use is a different attorney for closing than the sellers/buyers. That way if there is a problem- the attorney cannot weasel out of representing you with "Since we helped both sides its a conflict of interest." That's what happened to us. It's a worst case scenario. A fraudulent deed and finding out after the fact due to...

We cannot say enough good about Deirdre Stoker Vaillancourt at Meybohm Real Estate. She is extremely knowledgeable, capable, experienced, and effective. While always remaining professional, Deirdre made us feel supported throughout by acting as our market expert, advocate, and confidante. Searching from out of town and unfamiliar with Aiken, it took us over a year, including several false starts, before we found our new home... we were NOT an easy client! But Deirdre never got frustrated or impatient, but remained buoyant throughout, always ready, and willing to dive in each time we restarted the process. Additionally, Deirdre has been an immensely helpful, wealth of information for contacts and referrals.
