Absolutely Disgusting and Unsafe – Stay Away Don’t believe the pictures on their website — the reality in person is completely different and frankly inhumane. This was, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I booked a stay at Candlewood Suites in Augusta, GA, and what I walked into was not just disappointing — it was dangerous. The room reeked of something awful. Within minutes, I found what looked like human feces smeared on the bathroom wall. Let that sink in — actual excrement. Beyond disgusting, it’s a serious health hazard. As someone with asthma, the air quality was immediately a problem. I had to use my inhaler almost as soon as I entered. It was clear the room had not been properly cleaned or maintained. The condition was unacceptable on every level. Here’s just a snapshot of what I found: A missing kitchen light fixture — just a bare bulb hanging Exposed electrical wires in multiple spots Dirty doors covered in greasy handprints A makeshift “kitchen table” made of plywood and visible screws A filthy, stained bathtub Sloppy, patchy paint jobs even in the hallways Leaking air vents with water dripping from the ceiling Filthy carpets throughout the entire building I reported everything to the hotel staff. No action was taken. No room change, no apology, and absolutely no refund offered. This isn’t about high standards or picky preferences — this is about basic hygiene, safety, and decency. I had to leave because staying there was a risk to my health. I’m requesting a full refund and have opened a dispute with my credit card company. Avoid this place at all costs. No one should be expected to sleep in conditions like this.

They called me at 7am the morning we were to check in, who calls someone at that hour?? The hotel room, booked for 5 people, could only accommodate 4. My oldest son slept on couch cushions pushed together, the other 2 were on the pullout couch. They didn't have blankets for the pullout couch or any extra in the hotel so we had to actually go to a store and purchase blankets. They tried to do room service at 7 something in the morning while we were sleeping. All and all great front desk staff - the lady was wonderful even though she could do nothing for us, but the hotel itself was poor quality.

This location did not cancel my reservation in a timely manner. I met the criteria for my reservation cancellation. When I made the reservation, I as most people read the rules on cancellation. The inconsiderate manager refused to assist me and just want to keep my hard earned money. She stuck with a rule that didn’t exist at the time of my reservation on their website. I lost over $500.00 and never stayed at this hotel. I guess they want to “make money” no matter what. Everyone should be aware that the manager doesn’t care about potential customers. I guess I was nieve to believe in a company to do the right thing. If the IHG corporation hires these types of managers, I will never stay at any of their family of hotels. Times are challenging and many people don’t have that type of money to lose. The manager of the Augusta location doesn’t care about customer service. I’m very disappointed with their MANAGER. My overall rating for the facility is a total of zero. Maybe she need additional training on how to better assist customers. I will inform my retired military community of the lack of interest towards IHG assisting them with unclear information on their website.

Stayed there for 8 nights on business. Upon arrival i was told that the property had no water . The smell was terrible glad I had family in town to be able to shower . Owner refused to get propane for the grill . Was more worried about masters guest coming in at a 750.00 night rate . Upon checkout they told me I owed another 450 bucks because rates went up . Yeah right I wouldn't let a wounded animal stay at this place . Please if you happen to stay here put the deposit on a card that is not directly connected to your bank . They are thieves . This is by far the absolute worse hotel stay ever. Cops were at the property tazing some guy for terrifyingly guest omg I could go on and on but do not stay here . I'd sleep in my car before I had to stay here again.

Long story short: DO NOT STAY HERE !! YOU WILL REGRET IT FALSE ADVERTISING and the WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE I’d like to start by saying that I don’t leave negative reviews, I’m not a crazy Karen, I’m patient and understanding about things that are out of someone’s control - but THIS has tested every piece of patience I have. And if I could give ZERO stars, I would ! My family (2 adults, 3 small children) booked a Queen 1 bedroom suite (bedroom separate from living room with pull-out couch in living room) for our weekend stay. We booked about a month ahead of time (well in advance). When we arrived, we were told that they had *NO* suites available due to a busted water pipe. Okay, fine, there’s no way to prevent this, we were understanding. (I would’ve loved a courtesy call so that we could have a chance to make other accommodations but we did not receive that). The young lady at the desk offered us 2 separate rooms, but did not have any adjoining rooms. Okay, fine again. Then, we were told that instead of paying the $251 that we originally booked for, we would now be charged $430 for the 2 rooms. We’re patient people so again, we just dealt with it - it was 3pm on a Friday afternoon so we didn’t have many options. We get to the rooms and notice immediately that it smells like weed and cigarette smoke and the sheer/light curtains were handing off the track. Not wanting to be blamed for any of this, we immediately told the front desk just to make them aware. We told them the maintenance guy didn’t need to come fix it right now, we just wanted to let them know. (And we just wanted to finally get in our rooms and relax). A few minutes later a maintenance man who was CLEARLY HIGH out of his mind, tried to enter the room. We had to tell him twice to stop. A few hours go by and suddenly water starts POURING out of the ceiling light fixtures. We quickly moved our children’s belongings, only to see that the water started seeping under the floor into our 2nd room ! Try...
